Freedom From Pictures

Pictures in my mind are not a foreign concept.

For 40 years I had a picture in my mind every time I shut my eyes. My 7 year old self’s attempt to protect myself from remembering a horrendous event.  God set free in my 50’s!

Lately, Satan took the chance to insert more pictures into my mind by using Dr. Phil’s interview of children. Hearing the description 0f two stories dropped pictures in my mind.

Not wanting the pictures but not sure what to do, I would think on these whenever they entered my mind.

Finally, I decided to act when the pictures filled my mind while reading my Bible.

“God, Why is this picture filling my mind while I read Your Word?”

Speaking out loud I say, “Satan take your pictures and flee! I am a child of God and you have no place here!”

That has worked for 30 years but not today.

Next I call to Jesus, “Put what is good and acceptable in my mind as I am learning in Philippians 4:8!”

He did!

Later the pictures return during a walk with my husband.

“Satan take your bad thoughts and leave!”

The pictures didn’t leave, but I learned earlier call on Jesus!

“Jesus to give me the good thoughts again.”

He did again!

Learning one day at a time, JESUS PAID to set me free.

I know I am not the only one with bad thoughts. Finding out that I can choose what to think changed my life completely. Does anyone have stories about choosing to take control of unwanted thoughts?

GOD IS SO VERY GOOD!

Guidance and Provision

The smoke from the wild fires has plagued our area for days.

“God help them fight the fire and bring a wind to blow the smoke away!”

A new smoke alert sounded, I notice our county is not mentioned. Hopeful, I walk outside to check my peas and raspberries.  Thankfully the air is good and I decide to work outside.

Picking peas was easy but, my raspberries are a mess.

I have a God thought: Less is more.

With emotional ties to the raspberries, I try a new thing.  I cut branches with tiny fruit and it opened up space to let air in to dry.

I hear thunder! “Time to head in, but let me get just a bit more.”

Thunder a second time. “OK, I’m heading in.”

Checking the radar it looks like the rain is an hour away so I decide to run. Listening for thunder and not hearing any I run three miles.

The sun has not set it’s time to weed the flowerbed.  Noticing pink in the clouds, I head to the cemetery for sunset pictures and I notice the smoke returning to the area.

“Thank You God for the thunder that stopped my weeding and clearing the rain so I could run breathing good air.”

I Don’t Know What I Don’t Know

We owned an RV for five years and used it for three.

We took over seven trips West driving the 5,000 mile to visit family.  Every trip an alarm went off about Idaho warning us the battery for the cabin losing  power. All we knew was to get a new battery.

When we found a truck stop for help, the mechanic would suggest we run the generator while we were driving. We tried this but it didn’t do anything except burn gas.

We did not know plugging the camper into the generator was a thing. We found this out selling it.

Most of my life I thought my physical problems stemmed from my accident and I didn’t understand why other people with bad accidents were able to do things like climb mountains.

In my 40’s I visited a new spine doctor and found out that the scoliosis might have much more to do with my limitations then the accident. I also didn’t know my numbness meant lack of muscle and weakness.

When God started to give me miracles I found strength.

God used technology to make me stronger with Fitbit.  My husband and I started to compete over consecutive of days with 10,000 steps. I reached 103 days in a row. Then I added running daily after 30 days and the next 30 days I started typing daily on my computer.

Writing daily on my computer for over a year has set me up to be able to type this blog daily.

Writing a blog when I had never seen a blog means I knew nothing. The only reason I ever used a computer was to write letters to family.

I paid for help to set this up and I haven’t changed it much. At one point I was forced to change because my site was shut down for maintenance.

Hearing most people write daily felt like God saying, “It is time to start writing stories daily!”  I am doing my best to do it.

I don’t know what I don’t know, but God does! He will help me to accomplish what He needs me to do.

God Is Very Good!
